Boat Seller's Beware - Scam Alert - Sailboat Owners Forums
If the scammers are targeting SBO ads, it is quite likely they are targeting Craigslist, eBay, and all the other auto and boat classified ad sites. When selling a boat on SBO or any other site, the seller is not obligated to provide any kind of professional (or scam professional) survey or report, that is the buyer's responsibility.

No see-ums what screens work? | Sailboat Owners Forums
I am planning a get away on the boat in late June or early July into the heart of no see-um territory. Right when they are at their most hungered stage and human flesh is on the menu. What screen mesh works but still allows air flow?

Moisture In Decks | Sailboat Owners Forums
Fixing the bad core: My glass guy does this: From the inside of the boat, he will start drilling a series of small holes in lines in all four directions outward from the "center" of the suspected wet area. Do this until your test hole hits dry core material (in this case balsa core). That will define the size of the area that is a problem.

Interstate vs Trojan Batteries - Sailboat Owners Forums
All boaters boat differently and that decides what their power systems demand. I don't know but boats under 30 feet having these big/heavy 6v batteries surely transfer weight & room.

Converting a sailboat into a power boat. - Sailboat Owners Forums
The underwater design of a power boat is everything. A trawler's hull is designed for stability over speed, true, but it still allows the vessel to effeciently operate at well above the obsolete "theoretical hull speed" concept, whereas an older, full length keel sailboat would suffer from those same steam era limitations.

Suggestions on How to Keep Barnacles off Prop
Trying to avoid this next season? I have been told you can first epoxy the prop and then put anti-fouling paint on. Not sure the brand or the best ways to prepare before painting? Any suggestions?

Wet Decks and Can they be dried out? - Sailboat Owners Forums
Drilling lots of holes can accomplish this on a small scale but ona large scale you are better to de-skin the boat and replace the core.. I have seen a three X three section of deck that was pinning the moisture meter needle still wet at seven months and that was with about 35 - 40 holes in it. In seven months you can do a lot of deck repairs..

Bottom Paint Performance | Sailboat Owners Forums
On the previous boat I used WM's CPC with some peeling in sheets at application time the third year--possibly due to a change in manufacturers and the solvent they used, creating an incompatibility issue. One of the boats on my dock uses a water based bottom paint (could be Hydracoat) with good results.

Painting the inside - Sailboat Owners Forums
House Paint We painted the interior of our old Cal 27-T/2 with white semi-gloss Exterior Latex house paint with a mildewcide additive in 2001 after spraying the interior with house cleaner mixed with bleach and then pressure washing (obviously, empty the boat first). We painted all interior surfaces (except the teak) and the interior of all ...
